Freedom Boat Club hosts Dreams Come True

Freedom Boat Club of Jacksonville will be working a little above and beyond the norm this Friday, July 15 to make sure Dreams Come True for 30 children, who will be treated to a special day of fun and activities.

The local affiliate of Freedom Boat Club, which operates out of Julington Creek Marina, in Jacksonville, and at Camachee Cove Marina, in St. Augustine, will be hosting children served by the Dreams Come True organization, a local nonprofit formed in 1984.

Dreams Come True works to provide unforgettable memories for children with life-threatening illnesses in northeast Florida and southeast Georgia. The organization has granted more than 3,000 dreams for children.

“We are very excited to bring our dreamers out on the water with Freedom Boat Club,” said Andrea A. Siracusa, Senior Manager of Programs and Community Relations. “We have never done anything like this before.”

Friday’s Dream outing, with children ages 3-16, will include a cruise to Green Cove and a picnic. The boats will be leaving at 11 a.m. from Julington Creek Marina.

“We love giving back to the community and this is a wonderful group to serve,” said Freedom Boat Club owner, Lisa Almeida. “We have even decided to name the next new boat we add, Dreams Come True.”
